Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg’s world-class convention centre, has successfully concluded negotiations with its neighbouring tenants, and will now be able to offer visitors the convenient option of on site parking.
“On site parking has been an ongoing request from visitors since opening and we are delighted that we have finally managed to successfully amalgamate our own basement parking bay area, which was previously reserved exclusively for permit holders, with that of the adjacent Dion’s parkade,” says Deon Viljoen, executive director of Sandton Convention Centre.
Permit parking will now effectively fall away and for the first time since opening, casual visitors and conference and function delegates will have access to parking immediately below the centre. The amalgamated parking universe will effectively add an additional 600 parking bays to the existing 10 600 bays in the immediate vicinity.
“The basement parking will be particularly useful for our smaller functions and day visitors, while Sandton City parking, with its direct skywalk access, will continue to accommodate visitors to the larger functions and exhibitions. The Sandton Square parkade remains a preferred option for evening visitors,” concludes Viljoen.
